The different components of the Tsunami Early Warning System run together in a central warning centre. Here the data of the particular sensor systems (seismometers, ocean bottom pressure sensors, buoys, tide gauges and GPS instruments) are received and analysed. By means of a Decision Support System and based on simulations and pre-taylored hazard and risk maps of the coastlines the "Officer on Duty" is enabled to assess, if a tsunami has been generated, where and when it is to be expected and which height the wave might reach. These information will be delivered to governmental institutions, local disaster management, action forces and media. After all, the public can be targeted warned and evacuation measures can be initiated.

Modern earth observation technologies are evaluated in form of studies regarding the incidence of a tsunami event.
